Mrs. Doris Atkins, 94, of Columbus, MS, passed away Monday, February 13, 2023, at Trinity Healthcare, in Columbus, MS.

The graveside service will be at 2:00 PM, Saturday, February 18, 2023, at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Millport, Alabama with Bro. Billy Abrams officiating.  Lowndes Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.

Mrs. Atkins was born on September 26, 1928, to the late William Harrison Gavin and Myrthle Estell Wright Gavin.  Those who knew her considered her a lovely example of a beautiful Christian lady.  In fact, she was devoted to her church and her family.  She always saw the good in everyone and will be remembered as being a kind woman.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband – Marvin "Bill" Atkins, children – Terry Atkins and Sheila Atkins Terrell; brother – William Harrison Gavin, Jr.; and sisters – Elizabeth Dilley and Frances Dodd.

She is survived by her sons – Ronnie (Jan) Atkins, Gary (Debi) Atkins, and Steve Atkins; grandchildren – Brad (Melissa) Atkins, Brent (Heather) Atkins, Beau Atkins, Lacy Atkins, Addie Talley, and Anna Atkins; 11 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law - Bunny Atkins; son-in-law - Clay Terrell.

Pallbearers will be Brad Atkins, Beau Atkins, Brent Atkins, Collin Atkins, Ben Pack, and Clay Terrell.  Honorary pallbearers are the staff at Trinity Healthcare.
