Doris Jean Holocher, 88, of Columbus, MS, passed away Thursday, October 27, 2022, at her residence.

No services are scheduled at this time.  Lowndes Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.

Doris, better known as Meme, was born on February 18, 1934, to William Vardaman and Dimple McCary, in Amory, Ms.  In 1956 Doris married the love of her life, Dan Holocher.  She was a retired nurse.  Meme's love and compassion for helping others continued long after her retirement.  Meme loved everyone and everything unconditionally.  She loved animals so much.  Growing up, her grandchildren spent their summers chasing chickens, riding horses, and playing with her many dogs and cats.  Meme is survived by sister Jane (Johnnie) Moon and brother William Terry (Bonnie) McCary; children – Teresa (Wade) Little, Cecilia (Jamie) Ellis, Danny (Susan) Holocher; grandchildren – Ashley Chandler, Megan (Nate) Kelly, Daniel (Shelby) Holocher, Casey Little, Samantha (Wyatt) Jenkins, Chad (Holly) Little, and Jimbo Thompson; and ten great-grandchildren who she was so proud of and they loved their Meme.

She is preceded in death by her parents, sisters – Judy Wright and Joean Harlow; her husband – Dan; and granddaughter Julia Little.
