Doris Landers

Doris Ray Rector Landers, 88 of Chatom, AL passed away Thursday, March 24, 2016, at her residence.

A graveside service will be Monday, March 28, 2016, at 11:00 AM in Friendship Cemetery, Columbus, MS with Bro. Shawn Parker officiating and Lowndes Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Landers was born May 14, 1927 to the late Raymond and Bessie Rector in Vernon, AL.  She was a volunteer and member of First Baptist Church, Columbus, MS.  Mrs. Landers was a past president of the Business and Professional Women's Club and Secretary to the Dean at Mary Holmes College where she helped implement the Language Arts Program.  She retired as a professor at East Mississippi Community College after 30 years of service.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Landers was preceded in death by her husband – Dr. Allen G. Landers and son – David Allen Landers.

Mrs. Landers is survived by her daughter –in-law – Ann Taylor, Chatom, AL,; grandchildren – Valerie Baldwin, Austin Allen Landers and Leslie Landers; great-grandchildren – Madison Grace Landers and Parker Allen Landers.

Pallbearers will be David Baldwin, Austin Landers, Steve Jenkins, Jim Kitchens and friends.  Honorary pallbearers will be Tony Landers and Jim Landers.
