Obituary

Doris Virginia (Corbell) Parson was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.  She left this world with family by her side on November 4, 2022.

She was born to Roy C. and Dena Mae Corbell on January 9, 1942.  She married her husband, Albert "Ray" Parson on December 21, 1957.  Together, they were blessed with three children.  She was a devout Christian, prayed often, and was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.

Doris lived a full and happy life while on this side of heaven.  She loved and told frequent stories of her time working at the garment shop, the Coca-Cola plant, Weyerhauser, and Lowe's in Columbus.  She had a passion for gardening as she loved planting flowers, tending to her ferns, and mowing her yard.  She loved spending time in the kitchen creating delicious meals for her family.  She was a beloved "Mamaw" and adored spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband – Albert "Ray" Parson; her parents – Roy C and Dena Mae Corbell; her sisters – Dot Blanton, Amie Stevenson, Lois  Mordecai, and Avi Ola Duke; her brothers – Buddy and Dennis Corbell; and her grandchild T.J. Parson.

She is survived in death by her children – Tim (Debra) Parson, Tony (Marian) Parson, and Michelle (Paul Jr.) Brown; her grandchildren – Amy (Cole) Herron, Jeffrey (Tracy) Davis, Brittany (Matthew) Packer, Nikki (Jacob) Frost, and Taylor (Drew) Johnson; great-grandchildren - Kelly Brooke Davis, Allie Harper Davis, Remington Packer, and Camryn Packer; sisters – Judy Miles, Eulene Gardner, and Elna Hope; and a host of other family and friends.

A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 PM, Monday, November 7, 2022, at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS, with Bro. Melvin Mordecai officiating.  A visitation will precede at 1:00-2:00 PM in the Lowndes Funeral Home parlor.  The interment will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
