Dorothy Pierce, 89 of Columbus, MS passed away Monday, March 30, 2020, at Lifepoint Village Assisted Living, Southhaven, MS.
A family graveside service will be Thursday, April 2, 2020, at 3:00 PM at Memorial Gardens, Columbus, MS with Bro. Steve Blaylock officiating and Lowndes Funeral Home directing. Friends may view graveside at www.lowndesfuneralhome.net .
Mrs. Pierce was born September 11, 1930, to the late Ed Monroe and Viola Jordan Tatum in Frisco City, Monroe County, AL. She was employed as a seamstress for 20 years at Vanity Fair. Mrs. Pierce was a member of First United Pentecostal Church, Columbus, MS. She enjoyed gardening and sewing. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Pierce was preceded in death by her husband – George Pierce; daughter – Patricia Flowers; sisters – Ruth Williams, Eddie Bell Powell and Irene Rolin; brothers – John Tatum, Elijah Tatum, Grady "Pete" Tatum, and Carl Tatum.
Mrs. Pierce is survived by her grandchildren – Lisa (David) Turner, Hernando, MS, Daphne Flowers, Columbus, MS, Christal Flowers, Caledonia, MS and Tommy (Anita) Flowers, Columbus, MS; great-grandchildren – Brittany (Luke) Fairley, Dakota (Jessica) Flowers, Corey (Brooke) Hall, Peyton (Tyler) Phelps, Josh Turner, John Turner, and Cheyenne Flowers; great-grandchildren – Braxton, Parkes, Paisley, Piper, and Jay Zachary; and sister – Betty Reed, Monroeville, AL.
Pallbearers will be family.
