Dorothy Jean Surles, 90 of Columbus, MS passed away Friday, September 13, 2012 at Windsor Place, Columbus, MS. A graveside service will be held Saturday, September 15, 2012 at 1 PM at Beersheba Cemetery, Columbus, MS with Pastor David Coleman officiating and Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS directing. Ms. Surles was born May 23, 1922 in Columbus, MS to the late James G. and Zula Ann McCown Bolton. She was a resident of Columbus, MS for the past 13 years having moved from Decatur, GA. Ms. Surles retired in 1983 as an administrative assistant at Bellsouth for 35 years. In addition to her parents, Ms. Surles is preceded in death by her sisters – Willie Mae Bickerstaff, Annie Pearl Johnson, Margaret Louise O'Neal; and brothers – James Franklin Bolton, Robert Wilson Bolton, and Richard Clifton Bolton. Ms. Surles is survived by numerous nieces and nephews and one special niece who served as her caregiver for over 20 years – Bobbie J. Gibson. Memorials may be made to Palmer Home for Children, P.O.
