Douglas Gilbert Hinson, 68, of Columbus, MS passed away Friday, May 26, 2017, at his residence.

A memorial service will be held Monday, May 29, 2017, at 10:00 AM at Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel, Columbus, MS with Bro. Ron Delgado of Vibrant Church officiating. Lowndes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Hinson was born on May 1, 1949, to the late Roman Dale Mahoney Hinson and Patsy Viola Hartis in Charlotte, NC. He was a member of Assembly of God in Columbus, MS. Mr. Hinson was a member of the U.S. Air Force and worked as a mechanic for 20 years. In Oklahoma, he was a Boy Scout District Commissioner and in North Carolina, he was on the Board of Boy Scouts both for a total of 10 years. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hinson was preceded in death by his twin brother Donald Calvin Hinson.

Mr. Hinson is survived by his wife- Mary Hinson; daughters- Maria Rathburn, KY, Tammy Lynn Green, Columbus, MS; son- Douglas "Artie" Hinson, KY; sisters- Carol Mullis, Sherry Rikard, Judy Hinson, Barbie Hinson, Susie Worley, Fran Hinson, Terry Moore and Patty Pressley; brother- William "Bill" Hinson, Homestead, FL; granddaughter- Chalise Rathburn, KY; grandsons- Roman Dale Hinson and Elric Ray Hinson both of KY, Dillion W. Conn and James R Conn both of Columbus, MS.; great-grandchild- Michael Conn, NY.
