Alton Doyle Bailey, 71 of Columbus, MS passed away Saturday, April 11, 2015 at Baptist Memorial Hospital - Golden Triangle, Columbus, MS. Visitation will be Monday, April 13, 2015 from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM at Piney Grove United Methodist Church, Steens, MS. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM at Piney Grove United Methodist Church with Bro. James Black officiating. Interment will be in Center Hill Cemetery, Hamilton, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS directing. Mr. Bailey was born April 29, 1943 to the late Alton B. and Thelma Smith Bailey in Aberdeen, MS and moved to Lowndes County, MS in 1972. He was a member of Piney Grove United Methodist Church, Steens, MS and a retired forklift operator with American Bosch. In addition to his parents, Mr. Bailey was preceded in death by his wife Joann Honeycutt Bailey. Mr. Bailey is survived by his daughter - Lisa Ann (Bob) Spear; sons - Danny Ray Bailey and Kenneth Wayne Bailey all of Columbus, MS; brother - Wayne Bailey, Aberdeen, MS; 7 grandchildren - Kimberly A. Hooks, Dusty Smith, Amber Spear Bradley, Brandi Spear, Tiffany Bailey, Kenneth Bailey, Jr. and Chris Bailey and 18 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Whit Carr, Chris Bailey, Dusty Smith, Joe Gibson, Junior Smith and Andrew Vasser. Honorary pallbearers will be Shane Hooks, Michael Anderson and Chad Bradley.
