Eddy Aldo Wheat, 71, of Columbus, MS, passed away Monday, July 8, 2024.

Visitation will be Sunday, July 14, 2024, from 4:00 P.M. – 6:00 P.M. at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS.

Ed was born on September 22, 1952, in Trieste, Italy to the late Zelbert and Yolanda DeCasperi Wheat. Ed graduated from New Hope High School in 1971.  Ed worked as a mechanic for 30 + years, was the owner of E&D Trucking, and was a Past Master for Masonic Blue Lodge #5 in Columbus. Ed enjoyed trying new hobbies from cooking to making items with his hands. He could diagnose a problem with vehicles and then repair them. He could build R/C Planes to making beautiful copper flowers with his eye to detail. Ed loved to talk and enjoyed having long conversations overall on any topic. He enjoyed speaking to the staff at Fresenius Kidney Care and appreciated their care for him.

Ed is survived by his wife of 48 years – Thresa; son- Daniel E. Wheat (Kristie Townley); best friend- Rodney Glover of Columbus; brother- James Wheat (Rhonda) of Columbus; nephew- Jay Wheat (Stephanie) of Florida; niece- Angela Wilcox (Jonathon) of Columbus; and numerous great nieces and nephews.
