Obituary

Edna Kate McRaney, 85, of Columbus, MS, passed away Saturday, June 29, 2024, at her residence.

Visitation will be Wednesday, July 3, 2024, from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS.  Graveside will be at Hillcrest Cemetery in Petal, MS on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at 3:00 P.M. with Lowndes Funeral home directing.

Mrs. McRaney, was born on May 21, 1939, in Mississippi, to the late John Calvin Long and Matilda Beech Long.  Mrs. McRaney worked at the horse racing track in Hot Springs, Arkansas, as a cashier and she loved boating. She was of Mormon faith and she attended Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. In addition to her parents, Mrs. McRaney is preceded in death by her husband- Johnny McRaney, and her daughter-in-law- Cherie McRaney.

Mrs. McRaney is survived by her sons- Michael (Yvette) McRaney, and Marty McRaney; 16 grandchildren- Rachael Udy, Becki Udy, Heather Udy, Danielle (Pool) Jean, Jaimi Pool, Jimmy Pool, Dalton Pool, Josh DeRosia, Tiffany Bowen, Brianna DeRosia, Sariah DeRosia, Eveyaunce Sokolowski, Kate (Austin) Fleming, D.J. (Bradley) Thompson, Becca (Will) Booker, and Reed (Tameria) Tanner; sister - Kathy (Danny) Blackledge and nephew Ricky (Dana) Blackledge with 2 great nephews and niece Pam (Harris) Tapp with one great niece and 1 great nephew..
