Edward Blake White III, first and only surviving child of Edward Blake and Elizabeth Klein White died July 12, 2015 at Starkville, MS. Born on March 5, 1940 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, he was raised in Beaver County, Pennsylvania and graduated from Beaver High School, from the Pennsylvania State University with a degree in labor management relations and from Johns Hopkins University with a degree in management. He joined the Westinghouse Electric Corporation's Graduate Student Program in 1962 and held a series of human resource and manufacturing management positions at Baltimore, MD, Annapolis, MD, Pittsburgh, PA and Athens, GA. In 1976, he moved to Starkville, MS as Director of Human Resources for Garan, Inc. In 1982, he co-founded, with his close friend and mentor, Jack Shaw, S & W Management Company, which at its height managed 100 apartment complexes with 3000 units throughout the state. In 1990, he returned to Westinghouse as Human Resources Manager at the Challenger Electric Equipment plant in Jackson, MS. He moved back to Starkville in 1995 where he owned and managed apartment properties in several nearby towns. Preceded in death by his mother, father, and four siblings, he is survived by his good friend, Elaine M. White, by Richard E. White (Sharon) of Madison, AL, Susan E. White of Memphis, TN, Karl J. Gaukstern (Sunshine) of Gastonia, NC and Jill E. Gaukstern of Winston Salem, NC and by his grandchildren: James Blake White, Matthew Gregory White and John Michael White all of Madison, AL and Josephine Martina Gaukstern of Gastonia, NC. The family will receive friends in the sanctuary of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Starkville, MS from 10AM to 11AM on Friday, July 17, 2015. A funeral mass will follow with interment in Odd Fellow's Cemetery, Starkville, MS.
