Obituary

Edwin (Ed) Pitts, 82, of Steens, MS, passed away Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at his residence.

Visitation will be Sunday, March 2, 2025, from 1 p.m. – 2 p.m. at Lowndes Funeral Home in Columbus, MS. Funeral service will be Sunday, March 2, 2025, at 2 p.m. at Lowndes Funeral Home with Bro. Mike Dalton and Bro. Ray Crane officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church cemetery in Millport, AL.

Ed was born January 30, 1943, in Pontotoc, MS, to the late Darvin Pitts and the late Sybil Nash. He was a Christian, loved the Lord and was a member of McBee Baptist Church in Columbus, MS. Ed and the love of his life, Linda, were married for 62 years. They had four children, 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He served four years in the United States Air Force as an aircraft mechanic. After discharge, he worked as an auto mechanic for many years and then retired after 25 years at Omnova in Columbus, MS. Ed loved to go on trips to the beach and always enjoyed a fishing trip, talking about fishing, watching fishing shows and reading about fishing. He also enjoyed being outside mowing grass and gardening. His greatest joy was spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his son, Eddie Pitts of Tupelo, MS and a brother, Dewayne (Dorothy) Pitts of Columbus, MS.

Ed is survived by his wife, Linda Woolbright Pitts, of Steens, MS; daughters – Renee (Michael) Reynolds of Steens, MS and Crystal (Scott) Foster of Kennedy, AL; Son – Dallas (Stefanie) Pitts of Arlington, TN; daughter-in-law – Kathy Pitts of Tupelo, MS; grandchildren – Josh (Hayley) Reynolds of Columbus, MS, Erin (Chase) Landrum of Ethelsville, AL, Dakota (Chase) Conner of Columbus, MS, Bailey Merchant of Tupelo, MS, Zach (Grace) Foster of Steens, MS, Will Pitts of Carrollton, AL and Emma, Lily, Gwen and Willow Pitts of Arlington, TN; great-grandchildren – Paisley and Christian Conner, Ivy and Sutton Reynolds, Lawson and Landon Merchant, Easton and Sadie Foster and Garrett Landrum; brother, Charles Pitts of Columbus, MS; sister, Cara Fay (Tom) Parson; and brother-in-law, Breman (Judy) Woolbright of Columbus, MS.

Pallbearers will be Breman Woolbright, Michael Reynolds, Scott Foster, Josh Reynolds, Zach Foster, Chase Conner, Chase Landrum and Will Pitts. Honorary pallbearers are the men of McBee Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to McBee Baptist Church.
