Edwyna "Eddie" Slaughter Young, 77 of Columbus, MS passed away, Saturday, September 1, 2012 at Baptist Memorial Hospital – Golden Triangle, Columbus, MS. Visitation for Ms. Young will be Tuesday, September 4, 2012 from 6 – 8 PM with a Memorial Service to follow at 8 PM in the Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel, Columbus, MS with Bro. Larry Haggard officiating. Ms. Young was born October 20, 1934 to the late Thomas & Marion DePriest Slaughter in Deemer, in Neshoba County, MS. She moved to Columbus 49 years ago from Macon, MS and was a member of the Columbus Quilting Club. Ms. Young retired in 2008 as medical transcriptionist with Dr. John Griffin. Prior to being a medical transcriptionist, Ms Young held many jobs as a administrative assistant. She was preceded in death by her brother – Jimmy Slaughter. Ms. Young is survived by her daughter – Diana Y. Ballard, Dothan, AL, sons – Andy (Melanie) Young, Lakeland, FL and Jon (Jamie) Young, Walls, MS, sisters – Betty Butler – Tallassee, AL and Avalon Hicks, El Campo, TX, brother – Thomas Slaughter, Jr., Shreveport, LA, Grandsons – Colin Ballard and Ryan Young and step-grandson – Kyle Keine.
