Elizabeth Ann Burks Newman, 85, of Columbus, MS passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2016, at The Windsor Place, Columbus, MS.

Graveside services will be held 10:00 AM Saturday, March 12, 2016,  at Memorial Garden Park, Starkville, MS with Evangelist Kevin Kay officiating and Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS directing.

Mrs. Newman was born June 20, 1930, to the late Edward Meeks and Gertrude Smith Burks in Millport, AL. She was as a registered nurse for a number of years. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband-Jim Newman; 2 brothers, and 4 sisters.

Mrs. Newman is survived by her brother-Jack (Janie) Burks, Columbus, MS; and a host of nieces and nephews.
