Elizabeth Flake Thomas, 84, of Shuqualak, MS passed away Thursday, April 7, 2022, at Elderly Care Center, Macon, MS.

Visitation will be Sunday, April 10, 2022, from 6:00-8:00 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS.  Funeral services will be Monday, April 11, 2022, at 11:00 AM at Macedonia Community Church, Shuqualak, MS with Jimmy Flake officiating.  Interment will be at Macedonia Cemetery, Shuqualak, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Thomas was born on November 3, 1937, in Shuqualak, MS to the late William Earnest Flake and Onie Conner Flake.  She began working at United Technologies when she was 17 years old.  She worked her way up to become the executive secretary for the company.  She devoted 45 years to United Technologies, until she decided to retire at the age of 62.  While working at UT she met the love of her life, Charles, who she was married to for 60 years.  She was an active member of McBee Baptist Church where she loved to sing in the choir and volunteer in the nursery.  Mrs. Thomas and her husband, the late Charles William Thomas, were co-owners of Park Roller Palace in Columbus, Ms until 1983 where she touched the lives of many youth in the community.  She enjoyed spending time at their weekend home in Shuqualak with her family, where she loved taking long walks and planting gardens and flowers.  She also attended Macedonia Community Church, her childhood church, on some weekends.  Mrs. Thomas enjoyed cooking, baking her famous pecan and apple pies, making homemade plum jelly, and gardening.   In addition to her parents, Mrs. Thomas is preceded in death by her husband – Charles William Thomas, her brother, Elvin Flake and her parents, Ernest and Onie Flake.

Mrs. Thomas is survived by her sons – Darrell (Ann) Thomas, of Shuqualak, Doug (Terry Lynn) Thomas of Starkville, her daughter, Debra (Gary) Wright of Caledonia.  Her grandchildren – Karen (Bryan) Windle, Kristi (Richie) Davenport, Cory Bullard, Melanie (Triston Gardner) Moore.  Her great-grandchildren, Abbey Windle, Eva Davenport, Charlee Beth Davenport, Kinsley Bullard, Harper Bullard, and Dylan Davenport.  Her sister – Faye (Charles) Dawkins; and brother – Nowell Flake (Cathy).

Pallbearers will be Triston Gardner, Richie Davenport, Bryan Windle, Cory Bullard, Chuck Dawkins, and Ronald Flake.
