Ellsworth Burton Turan, 79, of Caledonia, MS passed away Friday, December 18, 2020, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-GT.

An intimate family memorial service was held on Saturday, December 26, 2020, at Covenant United Methodist Church, Pastor Eugene Bramlett presiding.

Mr. Turan was born on February 25, 1941, in Nahma, MI, to the late Myrle Peterson Turan and Henry Turan. He was in the United States Air Force, retiring after 20 years of service as a MSGT and worked for the USAF Civil Service for 23 years. Mr. Turan was an active member of Covenant United Methodist Church and the East Columbus Lions Club, where he served as president from July 2004 to July 2005. He was awarded the Edward Dalstrom Distinguished Service Award and Melvin Jones Fellow Award for dedication to humanitarian services from the Lions Club International Foundation.  Mr. Turan had a heart for service, volunteering and serving his fellow man. He was a jack of all trades, an avid hunter, he loved his family, always had a joke to tell and never met a stranger. Whenever you left his company or ended a phone call he would say, "Keep smiling", and he meant it. In addition to his parents, Mr. Turan is preceded in death by his wife - Darla Kay Turan; brother - Wesley Turan, and sister - Rhea Groleau.

Mr. Turan is survived by his son - Troy Turan of Caledonia, MS; daughters - Natalie Ellis of Caledonia, MS and Dana (Jim) Evans of Roswell, GA; grandchildren - Billy Parker (Anita), Tatum Turan, Camden Turan, Skylar Ellis, and Forrest Evans; great-grandchild - Saylor Clair Lane; sisters - Annette Jacques (Joe), and Lois Milkewicz (Ric); and brother - Michael Turan (Sue) and a host of nieces and nephews.
