Eloise Holliman Eloise Holliman, 86 of Columbus, MS passed away Thursday, February 14, 2013 at Trinity Place, Columbus, MS. Visitation will be Sunday, February 17, 2013 from 1 -3 PM at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Columbus, MS. Funeral services will follow at 3 PM at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Ralph Windle officiating and Rev. Steve Lammons assisting. Interment will be in Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery, Columbus, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS directing. Mrs. Holliman was born February 19, 1926 in Fayette County, Alabama to the late Perry Jackson and Sally Oswalt Spencer. She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church and a member of Nancy Vaughan's Sunday School Class. Mrs. Holliman worked for a number of years as a bookkeeper/office manager at Mauldin Furniture Store and the Mississippi Sheriffs Boys Ranch. She also owned and operated her own grocery store on Hughes Road for 5 years. As a person ministry, Mrs. Holliman loved to make special cards for the members of her church on her computer, and never missed an opportunity to witness to others about Jesus Christ. She loved to camp in her motor home and she bowled in the senior citizens league for many years. Mrs. Holliman enjoyed clogging with her sisters and friends for special events and fishing with her brothers and sisters. She loved her family dearly. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Holliman was preceded in death by her husband – James Verner Holliman, son – Barry Lynn Holliman, brothers – Will Spencer, Sid Spencer, Artie Spencer, Joe Spencer and sisters – Verona Henderson, Carrie Hood and Yvonne Hollis. Mrs. Holliman is survived by her daughter – DeWanna Holliman (Doug) Murrah, Columbus, MS, sons – James Tony Holliman, Montgomery, AL and Dennis Edward (Barbara) Holliman, Columbus, MS, sisters – Clauson S. (Cleo) Chism, Emma Stauss, Donna Allbritton, Linda Davis and Jean Ann Spencer, brothers – Jim Spencer and Johnny Spencer, 5 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Alex Holliman, Chris Brown, Jon Powell, Gary Chism, Steve Chism, Mike Hood and Darwin Holliman. Honorary Pallbearers will be deacons of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, her nephews, Ray Crane and Nancy Vaughan. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital in honor of Hayes Brown(her great-grandchild), 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
