Elvira Salazar Jenkins Elvira Salazar Jenkins, 74 of Columbus, MS passed away, Monday, November 12, 2012 at her residence. Visitation for Mrs. Jenkins will be Wednesday, November 14, 2012 from 6 – 8 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Funeral services will be Thursday, November 15, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Point of Grace Church, Columbus, MS with Bro. Shane Cruse officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Gardens, Columbus, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home directing. Mrs. Jenkins was born December 1, 1937 to the late Cipriano & Manuela Garcia Salazar in Laredo, TX, she moved to Columbus 40 years ago from Utah. She was a member of Point of Grace Church, the WOW women's group and Tuesday night prayer meeting group. Mrs. Jenkins retired in 2000 as a reordering associate with Aafes after 25 years of service. She loved to design T-shirts, sew, read, and cook, especially Mexican food and banana bread. Mrs. Jenkins is survived by her husband of 55 years, Frank M. Jenkins, Columbus, MS, son – Frank (Tammy) Jenkins, Jr., Columbus, MS, daughters, Deborah Jenkins Owen, Columbus, MS, Linda S. Jenkins, Smithville, MS, sisters – Alejandra Aguirre, Laredo, TX, Manuela Clark, Temple, TX, brothers – Cipriano Salazar, Jr., Oakland, CA, Gilbert Salazar, Las Vegas, NV., grandchildren – Laura Kelly, Brian Jenkins, David Christ, Timothy Jenkins, great-grandchildren – Nicholas Jenkins, Gabriel Christ, Brianna Christ, Zaylie Jenkins, Jillian Kelly and Kylie Christ. Pallbearers will be David Christ, Brian Jenkins, Ray Kelly, Jason Stevenson, Larry Cobble, Ted Russell and Bob Boisseau.
