Ernestine Cockrell, 93, of Columbus, MS passed away Monday, March 9th, 2020, at Baptist Memorial Golden Triangle Hospital.

Visitation will be 9:30-11:00 AM on Thursday, March 12 ^th at Lowndes Funeral Home followed by a funeral service 11:00 AM in the Chapel with Bro. Steve Brown officiating and Mr. Jimmy Newell assisting. Interment will be Memorial Gardens with Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS directing.

Mrs. Cockrell was born August 30, 1926, in Louisville, MS to the late Walter and Ida Lee Flake White. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Columbus, MS. Mrs. Cockrell taught in the Columbus School System for 35 years. She loved cooking, flower gardening, reading, teaching her Sunday School class and singing in the adult choir.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Cockrell is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years- John Cockrell; daughter- Jean Bullard; grandson- Jonathan Cockerell; brothers- Walter White and Jim White; and sisters- Sally Puckett and Dale Robertson.

Mrs. Cockrell is survived by her son- Frank (Sandra) Cockrell of Columbus, MS; brother-  Fred White of Shuqualak, MS; sisters- Ethel Strait of Columbus, MS, Janie Reynolds of West Point, MS, Janelle (Jim) Bracken of Loganville, GA, Glenda Thomas of Louisville, MS and Carol (John) Bullard of Corinth, MS; grandchildren- Rodney Cockrell of Columbus, MS, Bethany (Chad) Chaffee of Gulf Breeze, FL, Debbie (Brain) Lamison of Porter, Texas, and Dianna Fortune of Columbus, MS; 10 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Rodney Cockrell, Larry Cockrell, Chad Chaffee, Richie White, Tom Ferguson, and Greg Duke
