Ervin Skinner, Jr. Ervin Skinner, Jr., 85 of Columbus, MS passed away Friday, February 10, 2012 at Baptist Memorial Hospital – Golden Triangle, Columbus, MS. Visitation for Mr. Skinner will be Sunday, February 12, 2012 from 2:00 – 3:00 PM at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Columbus, MS. Funeral service will follow at 3 PM with Bro. Steve Lammons officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery with Lowndes Funeral Home directing. Mr. Skinner was born July 11, 1926 to the late Mr. E.R. and Hattie Hageu Skinner, Sr. in Arcadia, FL. He was a veteran of the United States Navy having served during World War II on the USS Yolo APB#43. Mr. Skinner was also a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean Conflict. He retired from AFLCO of Middle Tennessee after 30 years of service and moved to Columbus from Hendersonville, TN 14 years ago. Mr. Skinner was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church and a member and past master of Jere Baxter Edgefield Masonic Lodge #254 in Nashville, TN. In addition to his parents, Mr. Skinner was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Rachel Skinner in 2005. Mr. Skinner is survived by his nieces Patricia Barksdale, Gerrie Davis and Betty Massey all of Columbus, MS. Pallbearers will be Bobby Barksdale, Tim Massey, Todd Davis, Tommy Massey, Tim Parson and Tommy Deason.
