Erwin G. "Rich" Richardson, 76, of Columbus, MS passed away on Sunday, August 30, 2020, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-GT.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, September 3, 2020, at 9:00 AM at Memorial Gardens with Bro. Mike Dalton officiating and Bro. Jim Ray assisting and Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS directing.
Mr. Richardson was born on October 3, 1943, In Greenville, MS to the late Herbert C. and Christine Richardson. He was a proud graduate of Clarksdale Cohoma High School in Clarksdale, MS, class of 1963. Following graduation, he served in the U. S Navy from 1965-1967. After his military service, Rich worked of Mississippi Valley Gas/Atmos Energy, where he retired in 2004 after 41 years of dedicated service. He was a member of McBee Baptist Church, The American Legion, and 40 et 8. Mr. Richardson was an avid SEC college football fan and loved his Ole Miss Rebels. Rich's greatest joys were his wife, daughters, family members, and regular trips to Lowe's. He will be sorely missed and lovingly remembered by family and friends. In addition to his parents, Mr. Richardson is preceded in death by his two sisters- Mrs. Anita Navarez and Ms. Sue Albritton, and his brother- Herbert C. Richardson, Jr.
Mr. Richardson is survived by his wife of 52 years-Gail Richardson; two daughters- Rachel Richardson of Columbus, MS and KC Richardson of Washington, DC; brother- Paul Richardson of Memphis, TN; and many nieces and nephews.
The family of Rich Richardson would like to thank the staff of the ER and CCU at Baptist Memorial Hospital for their professionalism and graciousness during the last few days. Out of Deep respect for the medical community, and for the safety of all who are attending the graveside service, the family asks that masks or facial coverings be worn.
Honorary pallbearers will be Men of McBee Baptist Church.
