Eva Mae Ward, 93 of Columbus, MS passed away, Friday, August 29, 2014 at her residence. Family and friends are invited to a graveside service Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at 11:00 am at Friendship Cemetery, Columbus, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home directing. Mrs. Ward was born October 15, 1920 to the late William and Laura Cockrell Walker in Carrollton, AL and moved to Columbus, MS when she was a preschooler. She was a member of Seventh Street Church of Christ, Columbus, MS. Mrs. Ward was owner of Ward's Quick Trip Convenience Store and retired in 1985 after 25 years. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ward was preceded in death by her husband Nelson Wheeler Ward, daughter - Mary Lynn Ward, son - Mark Walker Ward, sisters - Louise Swanson and Elese Adair, brothers - Pratt Walker, James Walker, Lucien Walker and Walter Walker. Mrs Ward is survived by her sons - Ted Wheeler (Kaye) Ward, Columbus, MS and Nelson Wade (Gail) Ward, Columbus, MS, sister - Anna Laura Vesley, Roseville, CA, 4 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
