Evelyn Horton, 76, of Columbus, MS, passed away Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at Windsor Place in Columbus, MS.

Visitation will be Friday, February 23, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Service will be Friday, February 23, 2024 at 3:00 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS with Bro. Gary Shelton officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Gardens, Columbus, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Horton was born September 13, 1947, in West Blocton, Alabama, to Louie F. Sewell, Sr. and Mary Stough Sewell. She was a Beautician for many years and spent 24 years as a U.S. Air Force Wife. Mrs. Horton was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and she was a very good cook. Mrs. Horton was a member of  First Independent Methodist Church in Columbus, MS. In addition to her parents- Mrs. Horton is preceded in death by her parents-in-law - James Paul and Agnes Bell Horton; sister- Sandra (Joe) Thomas; brother- Frank Sewell; sister-in-law- Nancy Traweek; and brother-in-law- David Horton.

Mrs. Horton is survived by her husband- James W. Horton; daughter- Christina L. Whitley; sons- James Scott (Patty) Horton, and Christopher (Valerie) Horton; grandchildren- Tyler (Tori) Whitley, Emma Horton, Jessie Horton, Ava Horton, Ashley Horton, Sarah Horton, Austin Horton, and Amelia Horton; sister- Mary (James) Jones; brother–in- law- Coye Traweek; and sisters-in-law- Rita Sewell and Judy Horton;  numerous nieces and nephews, whom she loved very much.

Pallbearers will be Michael Thomas, Steven Thomas, John Horton, Paul Horton, Tyler Whitley, and Justin O'Bryant.
