Obituary

Hugenia "Faye" Foster, 80, of Columbus, MS passed away Sunday, November 6, 2022, at Baptist Memorial Hospital – Golden Triangle.

Visitation will be 10:00-11:00 AM, Saturday, November 12, 2022, at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS.  A memorial service will follow at 11:00 AM in the Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Charlie Whitney officiating, and Lowndes Funeral Home directing.

Faye was born on July 8, 1942, to the late Eva A. Crane and Hughdie Baucum, in Newton, MS.  Faye was a devoted Pastor's wife who served faithfully alongside her husband Ray for their 32 years of marriage. She was a doting mother and grandmother and lived for hugs, visits, and calls from her family. She was an elementary school teacher for over thirty years and enjoyed teasing her students with her first name guessing game. Faye went back to graduate school and earned her master's degree at Ray's urging, knowing it would help provide financial security when he was gone. She was exceedingly generous with her affection, time, resources, and—most importantly—her prayers. She was an ardent student of the Bible, reading it cover to cover every year for many years. She was a mighty prayer warrior who consistently lifted up the needs of others to the Lord. Faye never knew a stranger and went out of her way to meet new people. She loved puzzles, word games, and board games, and she loved to laugh and pull silly pranks on her friends. Most importantly, she loved her Savior, Jesus Christ, and desired nothing more than to share His love and leave a legacy of faith with her friends and family. In addition to her parents, Faye is preceded in death by her husband – Rev. Ray Foster; sisters – Mae Tutor and Cordelia (DeDee) Majure; and brother – Charles Baucum.

She is survived by her daughters - Anita (Wayne) Hunt and Kimberly (Tommy) Coverdale; grandchildren – Sarah Hunt, Susanna (Bradley) Benson, Dakota Williams, and Jenna Williams; and sister Sue Williams.
