Frances Rita Short Frances Rita Short, 88 of Columbus, MS passed away Sunday, March 6, 2011 at Baptist Memorial Hospital – GT, Columbus, MS. Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 8, 2011 from 6 - 8 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS and also Thursday, March 10, 2011 from 4 - 8 PM at Banks & Brust Funeral Home, Sullivan, IN. Funeral Services will be held Friday, March 11, 2011 at 10 AM at St Mary's Catholic Church, Sullivan, IN with Father Frank Renner officiating. Interment will be in Center Ridge Cemetery, Sullivan, IN; Banks & Brust Funeral Home directing. Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS is in charge of local arrangements. Mrs. Short was born July 30, 1922 in Langley, IL to the late George and Margaret Lonergan Kearney. She was a resident of Columbus, MS for the past 49 years having moved from Omaha, NE. Mrs. Short was previously employed with Egger as a sales clerk for 8 years. She was a member of the Retired Officers Wives Club, enjoyed playing Mahjong, making ceramics and was of the Catholic faith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband - James Franklin Short, Sr. Mrs. Short is survived by her son – James F. (Dena) Short, Germantown, TN; daughter – Mary Margaret Taylor, Columbus, MS; grandchildren – David Sledge Taylor, Andrew Taylor, Luke Short, Zellie Short and one great grandchild – David Sledge Taylor, Jr. Pallbearers are her nephews.
