Obituary

Gabie Adell Manning, 82, of Columbus MS passed away Monday, June 15, 2015 at Baptist Memorial Hospital-GT, Columbus, MS. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at Lowndes Funeral Home in Columbus, MS. Funeral services will be Thursday, June 18, 2015 at 2 PM at Tabernacle United Methodist Church with Rev. Jeff Manning officiating and Bro. Dave Bailey and Jim Godwin assisting. Interment will be in Tabernacle Cemetery in Ethelsville, Alabama with Lowndes Funeral Home directing. Ms. Manning was born July 8, 1932 to the late George D. Youngblood and Annie Mae Gilliam Lawrence Youngblood. She was affectionately known as Toots, Mrs. Gabie, Mom, Grandmommy, Aunt Gabie, Aunt Toots, and Sister. She worked as a Production worker at United Technologies for 36 years. She loved to cook and was famous for her caramel cakes which traveled to several states. A lover of outdoor activities, Ms. Manning had a green thumb and loved gardening. She loved her church and helping at the church, played softball and bowling. As a cancer survivor, she always loved participating in Relay for Life activities. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 51 years-Ralph Manning; brothers-Brooks Lawrence, Walter Lawrence, and Pete Youngblood; Sisters-Sallie Mae Creel, Nell Dowdle, and Mary Frances Lawrence; and infant daughter. Ms. Manning is survived by her son-Rudy (Donna) Manning, Columbus, MS; daughter-Betsy(Ken)Matthews, Columbus, MS; grandchildren-Josh Manning, Jenny (Ryan) Holloway, Jeff (Kate) Manning, Jay Kimbrel, Sarah (Wesley) Bordelon, and Amy Kimbrel; great-grandchildren-Crew Holloway, Carrington Holloway, Libby Holloway, Ava Bordelon, Charlotte Bordelon, Symone Kimbrel; brother-Charles Lawrence; sisters-in-law-Martha (John) Hubbard and Sara Manning; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Pallbearers will be Alan Youngblood, Wesley Bordelon, Jay Kimbrel, Gary Manning, Chris Taylor, and Stephen Taylor. Honorary Pallbearers will be Members of Tabernacle United Methodist Church; Friends of Tabernacle Campground; CCU, PCU, 3PT, Hospice Nurses and Staff of Baptist Memorial Hospital-GT; Dr. Michael Duckworth, Dr. James Woodard; Dr. Matt Wade; Friends of Monday Night Ladies Bowling League and Thursday Morning Citizens Bowling League.
