Garland Louis Kirkland, 80, of Columbus, MS passed away Thursday, April 25, 2019 at Baptist Memorial Hospital- GT.

Visitation will be Thursday, May 2, 2019 from 1-3 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Thursday, May 2, 2019 at 3 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Mitch McWilliams officiating. Interment will be in Friendship Cemetery, Millport, AL with Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS directing.

Mr. Kirkland was born July 17, 1938 in Fayette County, AL to the late James Louie and Willie Grey Dubose Kirkland. Mr. Kirkland was in the United States Airforce. He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church. Mr. Kirkland was a member of the VFW and American Legion Post #69, treasurer of Steens Civic Club. He loved going to the Junction and enjoyed dancing. In addition to his parents, Mr. Kirkland is preceded in death by his two sons-Gregory and Kevin Kirkland; daughter- Cheryl Beard.

Mr. Kirkland is survived by his wife-Barbara Jane Stewart Kirkland; daughters- Debra Whitney and Donna Osborne; son-David Kirkland; grandchildren- Crystal Sessum, Josh (Erica) Adams, Kirk (Brooke) Adams, Justin (Kaitlyn) Kirkland, Corey Kirkland, Jimmy Osborne, Katie Osborne, Amy Kirkland, Adam Whitney, Matthew Kirkland, Jordan Mitchell; six great grandchildren; sister-Mary Gillispie; brother-James Kirkland.

Pallbearers will be Josh Adams, Kirk Adams, Jordan Mitchell, Justin Kirkland, Mitchell Clark, and Matt Kirkland. Honorary pallbearers will be David Kirkland, James Kirkland and Adam Whitney.
