Obituary

Garnet Lee Bridges Tanner, 83, of Columbus, MS, passed away Saturday, February 22, 2025, at her residence.

Visitation will be Thursday, February 27, 2025, from 1:00 P.M. – 2:00 P.M. at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Funeral Service will be Thursday, February 27, 2025, at 2:00 P.M. at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS with Bro. Matt Moehring officiating. Interment will follow at Egger Cemetery in Caledonia, MS. Lowndes Funeral Home is entrusted with all arrangements.

Mrs. Tanner was born July 16, 1941, in Memphis, Tennessee, to the late Ghormley Nelson Bridges and Thelma Koen Bridges. She was a Georgia Tech Summer Girl. Mrs.Tanner was the President of Priscilla Junior Kings Daughters. She was a member of Sigma Sigma Sorority. Mrs. Tanner was the President of the Messick Y-Teens. She was a Worthy Advisor in the Normal Masonic Lodge of Rainbow Girls. She was chosen DeMolay Sweetheart of Normal Assembly.  Mrs. Tanner attended college at State Tech in Memphis, Tennessee. She was a police safety officer at the Bartlett Police Department in Bartlett, TN. Mrs. Tanner was the Director of Special Education at Central North Church in Bartlett, TN.  She was a member of Kolola Springs Baptist Church in Caledonia, MS.  Mrs. Tanner has been married to Mr. Ronald E. Tanner for the last 64-1/2 years.

Mrs. Tanner is survived by her husband- Ronald E. Tanner; children- Ronald E. (Joji) Tanner, Jr., Kathy (Dr. Andrew) Johnson; and Randy (Jennifer) Tanner; grandchildren- Drew (Taylor)  Johnson, Tanner Johnson, John Hunter Johnson Ronald E. (Taylor) Tanner, III, Dillan Tanner, Koen Tanner, Keeli (Garrett) Miller, Conley Tanner, and Gracie Tanner; great-grandchildren- Zoey Johnson, and Declan Miller.

Pallbearers will be Drew Johnson, Tanner Johnson, John Hunter Johnson Ronald Tanner III, Dillan Tanner, Koen Tanner, Keelie Miller, Conley Tanner, and Gracie Tanner. Honorary Pallbearers will be Charles Culpepper, Steve Speights, Jimmy Davis, and Mike Davis.
