Gary Vaughn Haley, 67, of Columbus, MS passed away Wednesday, February 10, 2016, at OCH Regional Medical Center, Starkville, MS.
Visitation will be Friday, February 12, 2016, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, February 13, 2016, at 10:00 AM in the Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Steve Lammons officiating and Bro. Mac Lochala assisting. Interment will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Columbus, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Haley was born February 27, 1948, to Maurine Geneva Moore Coleman and the late Vaughn LaFette Haley in Columbus, MS. He graduated from New Hope High School Class of 1966, and he attended Mississippi State University where he graduated in 1975. Mr. Haley married the former Linda Lowery on March 21, 1969. He was a control room operator at Weyerhaeuser Co. in Columbus, MS for 20 years; and as a veteran, he served as a Petty Officer in the United States Navy. Mr. Haley enjoyed singing in the choir at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. During his spare time, he loved woodworking, loved Indian artifacts and archeology; and he loved spending time with his kids and grandkids. In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by his grandparents-Ervin B. Moore and Alpha Moore.
Mr. Haley is survived by his wife of 46 years-Linda Lowery Haley, Columbus, MS; daughters-Tanya (Dennis) McGee, Columbus, MS and Lori (Ashley) Cargile, Millport, AL; grandchildren-Lindsey McGairty, Macy McGairty, Dillon Cargile, Aaron Cargile, Sara McGee, and Hailee McGee; mother-Maurine Geneva Moore Coleman; sisters Sandra Hubbell, Mary (Jim) Crump, Dana (Michael) Fore, and Debbie (David) Edge.
Pallbearers will be Mark McGairty, Mark Oswalt, David Dortch, Larry McJenkin, Brian Custard, Steve Little. Honorary pallbearers will be Mt. Zion Choir, C Team at Weyerhaeuser, Dr. Ramon Osorio, Dr. Cameron Huxford, Dr. Kenneth Thomas, and Dr. Matthew Wade.
