William "Gene" E. Blalock, 90, of Columbus, MS passed away Saturday, January 14, 2023, at Windsor Place, Columbus, MS.

Visitation is scheduled for 1:00-2:00 PM Thursday, January 19, 2023, at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS.  The funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM in the Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Matt Moehring officiating.  The interment will be at Millport City Cemetery with Lowndes Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Blalock was born on May 5, 1932, in Lowndes County, MS to the late Robert Hunter Blalock and Mattie Logan Blalock.  He served his country in the Army and worked forty-two years at United Technologies as a tool crib attendant.  An avid outdoorsman, Gene enjoyed fishing and gardening.  In addition to his parents, Gene Blalock is preceded in death by his sisters, Ruth Bailey, Flora Blalock, Hazel Lawrence, and Hilda Pendley; brothers, Robert Blalock, JW Blalock, and Cecil Blalock.

He is survived by his sons – William Gregory (Lela) Blalock, and Kerry Dudley (Denise Good) Blalock; daughter – Dusty Ann (Reggie) Wilder; grandchildren – Cathi (Cory) Harrison, Jennifer Blalock, Patricia Lovett, Autumn (Mel) Moore, Summer (Caleb) Hecox; and Eight great-grandchildren; brother – Jimmy Blalock; sister – Patricia (Jim) Burt.

Pallbearers will be Campbell Proffitt, Mel Moore, Brian Goodman, Eric Mason, Terry Mills, and Rusty Greene.
