Gene Cunningham, 69 of Steens, MS passed away, Monday, May 28, 2018, at his residence.

Visitation will be Friday, June 1, 2018, from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS.  A memorial service will follow at 2:00 PM with Dr. Bill Hurt officiating.  Lowndes Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Cunningham was born May 24, 1949, to the late Clyde and Bennie Patrick Cunningham in Fernbank, AL.  Mr. Cunningham was a retired airplane mechanic and worked with United Airlines for 36 years.  He was a car enthusiast and loved skeet shooting.  Mr. Cunningham enjoyed reading and watching western movies.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son – Jason William Cunningham, daughter – Robin Ursino and brother – Ernie Cunningham.

Mr. Cunningham is survived by his wife – Darlene Kinney Cunningham; son – Jesse Gene Cunningham; sisters – Dot Hanks and Lois Crandal; brothers – Jimmy "Jake" (Teresa) Cunningham and Tony Dale Cunningham; grandchildren – Giacomo Joseph Ursino and Shaina Cunningham; aunt – Alice Blanton.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jesse Cunningham, Adam Townley, Andrew Cunningham and Nathan Cunningham.
