Obituary

Evelyn "Geneva" Moran, 59, of Wilson, North Carolina, passed away on January 10, 2021 from complications of Covid-19.

Geneva was born on February 03, 1961 to Evelyn Wilks and John Carl Lyons in Biloxi, Mississippi. The first of seven children, she was a dreamer, spirited, and energetic. Geneva graduated from Biloxi High school in 1979. After graduating from high school, she pursued studies in accounting and bookkeeping and held jobs in this field for 35 years.

Geneva married and lived in Denim Springs, Louisiana and Jackson, Mississippi during the 1980's and 1990's. She had her daughter Stefanie Fairly in 1985 in Jackson, MS.

In 1999, Geneva married Bill [William T. Moran Jr.] and they blended their families and lives in a way that all still benefit from today. Married for seventeen years, they spent 11 in Marietta, Georgia before moving to Wilson, North Carolina where they both lived until their final days.

Geneva loved gardening, and she shared this passion with friends and neighbors, always helping with others' flowerbeds, flowerpots, and gardens. Her spicy peppers were always a surprise and delight.  She found peace being on her back porch, in her garden, and outside.  She enjoyed going for walks, and she loved traveling to the beach.

She will be remembered for never meeting a stranger: instantly enjoying everyone's company and counting down the days until she saw you again.  She will also be remembered for throwing birthday parties for her dog, Sir Otis. She baked cakes for, took pictures of, planned travel around, and deeply loved Otis.

A believer that relied on her faith to carry her through the difficult and joyful times, Geneva relied on God's grace for wisdom and guidance.  She prayed for things big and small, and she shared with others when her prayers were answered.

Geneva was widowed (William T. Moran Jr.) and predeceased by her mother, Evelyn Wilks, and her brother, John Lyons. She is survived by her father, John Carl Lyons (Arlene), siblings Jerry Lyons, Rose Crane (Kevin), Eugene Lyons, Margarett Lampe (Matt), Betty Jean Lyons, numerous nieces and nephews, daughter, Stefanie McClain Fairly, stepchildren, Jessica Sanders and Eric Moran, as well as her beloved grandchildren, Christopher Sanders (10), Knox Fairly (9), Scarlett Sanders (8), and Jane Fairly (6).

Geneva was a fiercely loving mom to her daughter, Stefanie, and dedicated to her stepchildren, Jessica and Eric. Her children will remember her for creating an environment in which you could be yourself, no matter what.  Her love for her children was unconditional, unwavering, and without judgement.
