George A. Renacker, Jr. passed away Wednesday, November 8, 2017, at Baptist Medical Center- Attala in Kosciusko, MS.
Visitation will be Saturday, November 11, 2017, from 1:00 – 2:00 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM in the Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Curtis Bray officiating. Interment will be at Friendship Cemetery, Columbus, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Renacker was born on December 30, 1925, in Durant, MS to the late George Arnold Renacker, Sr. and Annie Lou Odom Renacker. He graduated from Winfield High School in Winfield, AL and attended Mississippi State University where he earned his bachelor's degree in Business and Marketing. Mr. Renacker was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed spending time with his friends and family fishing and hunting. He also enjoyed sports and coached many youth sports over his years and was an avid fan of Mississippi State Football. Mr. Renacker valiantly and bravely served his country during WWII as a Seaman 2 nd Class aboard the USS Boston, heavy cruiser. He was employed most of his life as a salesman. Mr. Renacker's kind demeanor and honest nature earned him success and friendships among all that he called upon. He would always give everyone he talked with a smile and a kind word, and his kindness would always bring out the best in everyone he met. His greatest love was for his family and spent his life leading his family as a loving husband, devoted father, and proud grandfather. His love for the lord and his fellow man resounded through his family across many generations. Mr. Renacker lived his life with tremendous character and selfless compassion. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Mr. Renacker was preceded in death by his loving wife Emily Thomas Renacker, son- George A. Renacker, III., and brother- Willie Renacker.
Mr. Renacker is survived by his children- Ella Ann (Billy) Pennington of Vernon, AL, John William (Barbara) Renacker of Columbus, MS, Karan Marie (John) Ferretti of Aberdeen, MS, Katherine Lynn (Randy) Wallace of Ethelsville, AL, and Sherri Gail (Dan) Ingram of Columbus, MS; grandchildren- Cindy Meyers, Mike Renacker, Ken Shirey, Randy Wallace, Jr., Natalie Glover, Jay Rowe, Michelle Hattaway, Brooke Baughn, Emily Carpenter, Katie Foxworthy, Heather Brewer, Rachel Renacker and 24 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Mike Renacker, Ken Shirey, Randy Wallace, Jr., Jay Rowe.
Memorials may be made to Shaeffer's Chapel United Methodist Church, 1007 Shaeffer's Chapel Road, Columbus, MS 39701.
