Gerald Bain Godwin, 75, of Columbus, MS, passed away Thursday, April 8, 2016, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-GT, Columbus, MS.

Visitation will be Tuesday, April 12, 2016, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. A Funeral Service will follow at 3:00 PM in the Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Kenny Gardner officiating. Interment will be in Tabernacle Cemetery, Ethelsville, AL, with Lowndes Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Godwin was born May 13, 1940, to the late A. G. and Ora Bain Godwin in Guntersville, AL. As a veteran, he served in the Navy during Vietnam and was a plank owner for the USS Reeves DLG24. Mr. Godwin was also an Engineering Designer for 4 years with Yates Engineering. He played football at East Mississippi Junior College, and he was an avid Ole Miss Football fan. In his leisure time, Mr. Godwin enjoyed golfing, working in the yard around his house, and watching Western movies. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son-Gerald Bain Godwin, Jr.; and brother-Charles Godwin.

Mr. Godwin is survived by his wife of 49 years-Jo Ann Martin Godwin, Columbus, MS: son-Greg Godwin, Birmingham, AL; brothers-Jim (Emily) Godwin and Kerry Godwin, both of Ethelsville, AL; sister-Linda Godwin, Ethelsville, AL; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.
