Gerald Dwain Hocutt, 45, of Columbus, MS passed away Monday, July 31, 2017, at Baptist Memorial Hospital – Golden Triangle, Columbus, MS.
Visitation will be held Thursday, August 3, 2017, from 12:00 – 2:00 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. A funeral service will follow Thursday, August 3, 2017, at 2:00 PM in the Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Don Harding officiating. Interment will be at Vaughn Cemetery, Caledonia, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Hocutt was born November 27, 1971, in Jackson, MS to Jerry Hocutt and Nancy Peacock Shelton. He worked at the Columbus Police Department for 3 years and also worked as a Deputy and Narcotics agent for the Lowndes County Sheriff's Department for 11 years. Mr. Hocutt enjoyed traveling and going trail riding in the mountains. He loved to restore old cars, shoot skeets, and listen to music. Mr. Hocutt especially loved to watch football and spend time with his family. He was preceded in death by his nephew Chase Bradford.
Mr. Hocutt is survived by his loving wife- Denise Dawkins Hocutt of Columbus, MS; son- Dalton Hocutt of Columbus, MS; daughter- Kaitlyn Hocutt of Columbus, MS; brothers- Ricky (Cathy) Hocutt of Tampa, FL, Shane (Christina) Bradford of Ethelsville, AL, and Tyler Hocutt of Jackson, MS; mother- Nancy (Ronnie) Peacock Shelton; father- Jerry (Brenda) Hocutt; step-father- Buddy (Nancy) Bradford; mother and father-in-law- Brenda and Doug Dawkins; stepbrother- Ben (Amy) Shelton; stepsisters- Gwendolyn (Zach) Perry of Lanexa, VA and Erin Lucy of Brandon, MS; sister-in-law- Stacy Hall of Columbus, MS; nieces and nephews- Courtney Hall, Colden Hall, Corey Hall, Holly Hocutt, Caitlin Wade, Alison Wade, Shane Bradford, Dakota Bradford, Brayden Shelton, Eve Perry, Dachlin Perry, Braddigan Perry, Emma Goodlett, Grace Goodlett, Sophie Goodlett.
Pallbearers will be Dalton Hocutt, Ricky Hocutt, Shane Bradford, Tyler Hocutt, Matt Darling, Robert Rhett, Dr. Jamie Martin, Allen Edmondson, Mike Hines, Johnny Hankins, Steve Lindsey, Steve Hammack, Chris Davis, Lance Dawkins, Corey Hall, and Shawn Miller. Honorary pallbearers will be Jeremy Barnhill, Sean Beard, Brian Turner, Willie Jones, Rick Haynes, Greg Porter, and Former Co-workers at Lowndes County Sheriff's Department and Columbus Police Department.
