Gerald Lester Spears, 73, of Caledonia, MS passed away Wednesday, August 9, 2017, at his residence.

Visitation will be Saturday, August 12, 2017, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. A funeral service will be held Sunday, August 13, 2017, at 2:00 PM at Kolola Springs Baptist Church, Caledonia, MS with Bro. Don Harding officiating. Interment will be at Egger Cemetery, Caledonia, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Spears was born September 10, 1943, in Cullman, AL to the late Robert Lester and Mildred Matilda Cheatwood Spear. He was a Tech Sargent QAE Inspector for 47 years in the United States Air Force. Mr. Spears attended and was a member of Kolola Spring Baptist Church in Caledonia, MS. He enjoyed singing, fishing, and served with the elite Wild Wessels. Mr.Spears loved spending time with his family and watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren play sports.

Mr. Spears is survived by his loving wife- Jonnie Elaine Carta Spears of Caledonia, MS; sons- Mike (Sandra) Spears of Caledonia, MS, Mark (Amanda) Spears of Caledonia, MS, and Richie James (Jessica) Lesley of Madison, MS; grandchildren- Todd (Jo) Spears, Lyndsee Spears, Brandi (Bryson) Bailey, Russell (Lauren) Bouland, Alex Lee Spears, Alexis Spears, Alexandrea Spears, Mason Lesley, and Wylie Lesley; great grandchildren- Christian Spears, Tyler Spears, Kayden Rollins, Kenli Perry, and Brett Bourland; brothers- George Terry Spear of Cullman, AL and Gerland Wayne Spear of Cullman, AL.

Pallbearers will be Todd Spears, Russell Bourland, Alex Spears, Bryson Bailey, Chris Harding, and Jack Larmour. Honorary pallbearers will be Austin Romans, Allen Romans, Andrew Gill, Jonathan Bishop, District 1 Fire and Rescue, and the Senior Class at Kolola Springs Baptist Church.
