Gilbert Lowe, 100, of Columbus, MS passed away Friday, June 23, 2017, just eighteen days short of turning 101, at The Windsor Place, Columbus, MS.

Visitation will be Wednesday, June 28, 2017, from 1:00 – 2:00 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. A celebration of life will follow on Wednesday, June 28, 2017, at 2:00 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Roy Hawkins officiating and Bro. Ralph Windle assisting. Interment will be at Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery, Reform, AL with Lowndes Funeral Home directing at 4:00 PM.

Mr. Lowe was born July 11, 1916, in Reform, AL to the late Clyde and Lizzie Williams Lowe. He retired after 43 years of service as a plant manager/superintendent at Kerr-McGee, Columbus, MS. Mr. Lowe also managed plants in Missouri, Indiana, and North Carolina. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Columbus, MS and served in different capacities for many years and loved being a part of his church family. Mr. Lowe celebrated his 100 ^th birthday at the church with his family and friends this past year and was blessed seeing five generations of family. In addition to his parents, Mr. Lowe was preceded in death by his wife, Clara Channel Lowe; two sisters, Leona Lindsey and Mildred Hollingsworth; three brothers, Cecil, Maurice, and Curtis Lowe.

Mr. Lowe is survived by his wife of 46 years- Virginia Richards Hackelman Lowe of Columbus, MS; one son- Gene (Linda) Lowe, Sr. of Fort Pierce, FL; five grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
