Gloria Elizabeth Meades Carraway Gloria Elizabeth Meades Carraway, 54, passed away, Sunday, August 21, 2011 at Glen Haven Health and Rehabilitation, Northport, AL. Visitation for Mrs. Carraway was Wednesday, August 24, 2011 from 9:00 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS followed by funeral services at 9:30 a.m. in the Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ron McDougal officiating. Interment was at Wood Springs Baptist Church cemetery, Tom Nolen, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home directing. Mrs. Carraway was born March 28, 1957 to the late George E. Meades and Willie Chamberlin Peacock in Ft. Belvoir, VA. She was a former resident of Columbus, MS where she graduated from Caldwell High School and was a member of the Rifle Team and Band. Mrs. Carraway was a graduate of Mississippi University for Women where she was a member of the Revelers and vice president of her dorm. She was a taxi driver and retired in 2002. She was of the Baptist faith, enjoyed reading and was a cat lover. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Carraway was preceded in death by her step-father, Javin Peacock. Mrs. Carraway is survived by her sons – Evan Carraway, Laurel, MD and Eric Carraway, San Antonio, TX and sister – Brenda Meades Rainey, Tuscaloosa, AL. Pallbearers will be Eric Carraway, Evan Carraway, Matt Jennings, Joe Carraway and Orville Stockland. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Staff of Glen Haven Nursing Facility, Northport, AL.
