Grace Elizabeth Smith Becton, 95, of Columbus, MS passed away August 4, 2015 at Baptist Memorial Hospital-GT, Columbus, MS. Visitation will be Thursday, August 6, 2015 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. A Funeral Service will follow at 3:00 PM in the Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Roy Hawkins officiating and Bro. Steve Brown assisting. Interment will be at Friendship Cemetery, Columbus, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home directing. Mrs. Becton was born February 9, 1920 to the late John Oliver Sykes and Blanch Catherine Summers Sykes in Columbus, MS. She was self-employed for 40 years at William O. Smith Grocery, and she lived at Trinity Independent Living for the past 8 years. Her parents were charter members of Calvary Baptist Church, Columbus, MS. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband-William O. Smith; husband-Louis Franklin Becton; son-John David Smith; grandchild-William O. Smith, III; and brother-Edwin O. Sykes. Mrs. Becton is survived by her daughters-Daisy (Roy) King, Columbus, MS and Melissa (Tom) Brewer, Warner Robbins, GA; son-Bill (Wanda) Smith, Ridgeland, MS; Grandchildren-Steve (Jill) King; Bruce (Rozilyn) King; Jason (Kelli) King; Robert (Kathy) Brewer; Neil (Lisa) Brewer; Hayley Smith; Alex Smith; Charles Becton; and Carey Becton; great grandchildren-Matt (Catherine) King; Josh (Carly) King; Eric King; Sara King; Kelsi King; Cooper King; Joshua Brewer; Katie Brewer; Lauren Brewer; and Callie Brewer; and great-great grandchildren-Emily King and Hunter King; and sister-Betty Blackstock.
