Grace Briscoe Grace Vaughan Briscoe, 83 of Steens, MS passed away Friday, November 18, 2011 at her residence. A private family service was held at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS with Bro. Clark Richardson officiating. Interment was in Lone Oak Cemetery, Steens, MS. Mrs. Briscoe was born in Steens, MS on September 17, 1928 to the late Monroe Lee and Ella Mae Sanders Vaughan. After graduating from Caledonia High School in 1947, she lived briefly in Biloxi, MS and worked several years in Davenport, Iowa for Oscar Meyer. After returning to Columbus, Mrs. Briscoe worked and retired from United Technologies (formerly American Bosch) as an inspector. During this time, she was an avid vegetable gardener and jack-of-all-trades until she became ill. Mrs. Briscoe is survived by one daughter - Gail (Paul) Thorne, Steens, MS; sister - Dorothy (Robert) Hickman, Columbus, MS; her special friend George Corbell, Steens, MS; her wonderful caregivers - Shirley Wilson, Gilmore and Yvonne Hearn, and Baptist Hospice Nurses; and a number of nieces and nephews.
