Harold "Hal" Tubbs Willcutt, Jr. 66, of Columbus, MS passed away Wednesday, February 10, 2016, at Hospice of West Alabama, Tuscaloosa, AL.
Visitation will be Saturday, February 13, 2016, from 10:00 am to 12:00 PM at Fairview Baptist Church, Columbus, MS. Funeral Services will follow at 12:00 PM at Fairview Baptist Church with Bro. Breck Ladd officiating and Bro. Tommy Gillon assisting. Interment will be in Vaughn Cemetery, Steens, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS directing.
Mr. Willcutt was born May 28, 1949, to the late Harold and Ruth Willcutt, Sr. in Ensley, AL. He graduated from Tuscaloosa High School, Class of 1967 and received his B. S. in Business Administration from the University of Alabama, where he also played football for the Alabama Crimson Tide. Mr. Willcutt married Mary Willcutt on December 18, 1970. He owned and managed Willcutt Block and Supply in Columbus for about 40 years, and he was also a private pilot. Mr. Willcutt was an avid deer hunter, loved Alabama football, and enjoyed teaching Sunday School Class. He loved spending time with his family and being involved with his children and grandchildren's sports activities. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his grandparents-Elmer and Ruby Willcutt and his granddaughter-Ally Marie Benson.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years-Mary G. Willcutt, Columbus, MS; daughter-Jennifer Willcutt (Brian) Benson, Greenwood, Springs, MS; Ashley Willcutt (Brent) Thompson, Columbus, MS; sons-Jason (Shannon) Willcutt, Columbus, MS and Brad (Erin) Willcutt, Gautier, MS; sisters-Donna (Wesley) Spruill, and Jan (Joe) Morrison, both of Tuscaloosa, AL; grandchildren-Avery Benson, Macy Willcutt, Lucy Willcutt, Ruby Willcutt, Audrey Thompson, Caroline Thompson, Brayden Thompson, Tatum Willcutt, and Camille Willcutt; special mentors: Joe (Diane) Guthrie; and special friend/caregiver- Trent Jones.
Pallbearers will be Larry Clark, Rick Bishop, Ken Aldridge, D. R. McElhenney, "Gabe" James Gable, Gene Coleman, and Rodney Falkner. Honorary pallbearers will be Hal Willcutt's Sunday School Class, Former and Current Employees of Willcutt Block, Columbus, MS, and Willcutt Block, Tuscaloosa, AL.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fairview Baptist Church, 127 Airline Rd., Columbus, MS 39702 or a charity of the donor's choice.
