Obituary

Harold "Houleo" Nance, 74, passed away on July 06, 2019, at his residence. A visitation will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2019, at 10:00AM at Lowndes Funeral Home, followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00AM from the Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Matt Haines officiating.

Mr. Nance was born March 19, 1945, in Geiger, AL, to the late Ethel and R.A. Nance, Sr. He served his country while enlisted in the US Army National Guard. During his younger years, he enjoyed working with the railroad as well as time spent with Rodeo as a Bull Rider. A very well-rounded and outgoing person, he was a wealth of knowledge, having experience and "know how" in many fields. Mr. Nance was always a hard worker, best described as someone who "Worked Hard and Played Hard". He enjoyed life to the fullest, and was an avid Alabama Crimson Tide Football fan. He loved his family dearly and was often known for his stern side, when appropriate. He also enjoyed Motorcycles and Pistols. He retired from Dowdle Gas Company, where he worked in Maintenance and Transportation. In his later years he enjoyed Western Movies and Knife Making as a Hobby.

He is preceded in death by his father: R.A. Nance, Sr., mother: Ethel Bridges; and brothers: Woodrow Nelson, R.A. Nance, Jr., William Nance, James Nance, and Roger Nance.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 17 years: Lisa Nance; children: Delynn (Lynn) Nance of Caledonia, Dwayne (Nicole) Nance of Carrollton, AL, Candy (Gene) Beard of Carrollton, AL, Samantha Dunn (Timothy Taylor) of Fayette, AL, and Ashley (B.J.) Meeks of Fayette, AL; grandchildren: Clayton (Lindsey) Nance, Stephanie Smith, Megin (Colby) Pennington, Coty Nance, Nick (Anna) Martin, Barron (Kendall) Martin, Kristen (Robert) Mitchell, Blake (Carly) Elkins, Dillon (Queen) Elkins, Colby Elkins (Greg), Hunter (Camryn) Beard, Colby Wright, Jordan Meeks and Aubrey Meeks; great grandchildren: Braydon Pennington, Kaelyn Pennington, Waylon Pennington, Ashly Nance, Lucas Nance, Kelsey Martin, Jamie Martin, Thomas Martin, Leo Junkin, Skylar Rendon, Emma Mitchell, Joshua Martin, and 3 more on the way; sisters: Judy Mae Jones Heritage and Lois Johnson; sister-in-laws: Lucille Nance and Dorothy Nance; parents-in-law: Doug and Mary Alice Rasberry and Brenda Roberts; and a Host of Neices, Nephews, Cousins and Extended Family.

Recognized as honorary pallbearers will be Mr. Nance's Grandsons, as well as the Staff of Baptist Hospice.
