Hattie Lu Ward, 99, passed away peacefully at her home on August 22, 2018.

Mrs. Ward was born on March 4, 1919, to James Asbury and Hattie Gallop, in Caledonia. Mississippi. She was employed by United Technologies in Columbus, and retired in 1981. Mrs. Ward was a lifelong member of Border Springs Baptist Church, where she served as pianist and organist for 75 years.

Survivors include her loving daughter, Jo Anne Gunn; two granddaughters, Cathy Kalish (Jonathan) and Dana McIntyre (Dale); three great-grandsons, Matthew Bradshaw (Kaitlin), Corey Kalish, and Zachary Kalish.  She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 49 years, Pete Ward, and her sister, Robbie Lee Jones-Brown.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 25, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, Mississippi.  Funeral services will be held at Rowan Cemetery Chapel in Caledonia on Sunday, August 26, at 2:00pm with Bro. Mike Smith officiating and Glen Edmonds assisting. Interment will be in Rowan Cemetery with Lowndes Funeral Home directing.

Pallbearers will be Matthew Bradshaw, Corey Kalish, Zachary Kalish, Dale McIntyre, Jonathan Kalish and Brian Jones.
