Hazel Marie Barton, 94, of Columbus, MS passed away Tuesday, August 31, 2021, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-GT.

A graveside service will be Thursday, September 2, 2021, at 1:00 PM at Memorial Gardens, Columbus, MS with Bro. Jeff Epling officiating and Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS directing.

Mrs. Barton was born October 10, 1926, in Lowndes County, MS to the late John Payne and Christine Lockler Payne. She was very sociable, very well thought of, and loved spending time with her family. Mrs. Barton was very devoted to keeping herself up as well as making sure her house was always clean. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Barton is preceded in death by her husband of 44 years- Alford Barton; son- Glenn Walls; daughter- Linda Suggs Martinez; brothers- George W. Payne, and William A. Payne; and sister- Otheal Payne Terrel.

Mrs. Barton is survived by her sons- Larry (Katie) Gordey of Columbus, MS, and Victor (Lynn) Suggs of West Point, MS; grandchildren- Jeff Gordey, Bradley Suggs, Victor Suggs, Jr., Monica Barfield, and  Jason Barfield; 10 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and sister- Beatrice Payne Eads of Columbus, MS.

Pallbearers will be Mrs. Bartons family and honorary pallbearers will be Mrs. Barton's grandchildren.
