Hazel Tarver Blake Wharton Hazel Tarver Blake Wharton, 90 of Columbus, MS passed away Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at Baptist Memorial Hospital-GT, Columbus, MS. Visitation will be held Friday, September 16, 2011 from 1 PM – 2 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Funeral Services will be held Friday, September 16, 2011 at 2 PM in the Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Billy Ferguson officiating. Interment will be in Lone Oak Cemetery, Steens, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS directing. Mrs. Wharton was born June 9, 1921 in Benton, AR to the late Samuel and Augusta Englishbee Tarver. She was a resident of Columbus, MS for the past eighty years having moved from Arkansas. Mrs. Wharton was a member of the Columbus Church of Christ, Columbus, MS and member of the Rebekahs. She enjoyed camping, playing cards and reading. Mrs. Wharton is survived by her son – Dennis (Rebecca) Blake, Columbus, MS; grandchildren – Theresa (Glenn) Bush and Richard (Rene) Blake; great grandchildren – Rob Blake, Justin Bush, Ryan, Blake and Reid Blake. Pallbearers are Mike Smith, Roy Miller, Bonnie Reeves, Earl Arndt, Gene Yates and Lynn Johnson. Honorary pallbearers are residents and staff of Trinity Retirement Center and Healthcare, and doctors and nurses of Baptist Memorial Hospital-GT.
