Hazel "Jeanette" Colson, 59 of Caledonia, MS passed away, Saturday, July 27, 2013 at Baptist Memorial Hospital - Golden Triangle, Columbus, MS. Visitation for Mrs. Colson was Sunday, July 28, 2013 from 3:00 - 4:00 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Funeral Services followed at 4:00 PM in the Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Don Harding officiating. Interment was in Egger Cemetery, Caledonia, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home directing. Mrs. Colson was born August 15, 1953 to the late Elbert Clifford & Gloria Jump Ashcraft in Covington, KY. She moved to Caledonia 38 years ago from Hebron, KY. Mrs. Colson graduated from Mississippi University for Women with her bachelor degree in nursing. She worked at Gilmore Memorial Hospital, Amory, MS in the NICU department as a Registered Nurse for 15 years and also worked for Tombigbee Home Health. Mrs. Colson was a member of Kolola Spring Baptist Church, Caledonia, MS where she enjoyed singing in the church choir. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Colson was preceded in death by her brother - Arthur Allen "Skippy" Ashcraft. Mrs. Colson is survived by her husband of 38 years Wayne Daniel Colson, Caledonia, MS, Daughters - Jamie (Daniel) Moon, Jennifer Ann Colson and Mandy (Matthew) French all of Jacksonville, FL, sister - Judy (Al) Goodman, Starkville, MS, brother - Eugene Clifford (Lorraine) Ashcraft, Caledonia, MS, grandchildren - Levi French, Micah French, Elise French, Abby Grace French and Judah French.
