Hazel Jean Cook, 88 of Columbus, MS passed away Thursday, October 23, 2014 at Baptist Memorial Hospital-GT , Columbus, MS. Visitation will be Saturday, October 25, 2014 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Funeral Services will be Sunday, October 26, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel with Billy Ferguson officiating. Interment will be at Memorial Gardens, Columbus, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home directing. Mrs. Cook was born July 12, 1926 in Lanton, MO to the late Hattie Dawson Cook. She was a member of Seventh St. Church of Christ. Mrs. Cook loved her church and was a member of the Prime Timers Church of Christ. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and a former member of the Columbus Exchange Club. Mrs. Cook worked at the Mississippi Employment Office in administrator for over 30 years. In addition to her mother she is preceded in death by her husband-Frank Leonard Cook and sister-Mary Lou Cook. Mrs. Cook is survived by her sons- Jim (Ann) Cook, West Point, MS, Chuck Cook and Bobby Cook both of Columbus, MS and Jay (Beth) Cook, Caledonia, MS; grandchildren- Joe Shay (Patrice) Cook, Lee (Valerie) Cook, Bradley Cook, Dustin Cook and Devin Peeks; great-grandchildren- Caleb Cook and Joe Cook. Pallbearers will be Bonnie Reaves, Wade Ward, Lynn Johnson, Don Cole, Dan Harris, Les Chaffin and Wayne Wigley.
