Obituary

Hazel L. Ford, 81 of Columbus, MS passed away Tuesday, June 11, 2013, at Baptist Memorial Hospital – GT, Columbus, MS. Visitation will be Friday, June 14, 2013, from 4-5 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Funeral Services will follow at 5 PM in the Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel, Columbus, MS with Bro. Sammy Crawford officiating and Bro. Tommy Gillon assisting. Interment will be Monday, June 17, 2013, at 11 AM in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Frankfort, KY with Bro. Kent Shepherd officiating and Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS directing. Mrs. Ford was born December 3, 1931, in Woodford County, KY to the late Calvin and Jessie Caudill Long. She moved to Columbus, MS 51 years ago from Versailles, KY. Mrs. Ford was a member of Fairview Baptist Church, Columbus, MS where she was a member of the Widow Mites Sunday School Class and the 55 Plus Senior Citizens. She enjoyed sending cards, working crossword puzzles, reading her Bible, and was a wonderful cook. Mrs. Ford retired in 1993 as a secretary for Kerr McGee after 27 years of service. Mrs. Ford is survived by her daughter – Susan (Gary) Shepherd, Steens, MS; sons – Melvin Thomas (Christy) Ford, Tupelo, MS, Calvin Ross Ford, Columbus, MS, Timothy Bryce (Lisa) Ford, Wesson, MS; sisters – Syble Baker and Irene Searcy, both of Lexington, KY; grandchildren – Jennifer (John) Weilenmann, Thomas Lawrence (Sandy) Linton, Kent (Kristen) Shepherd, Kurt (Michelle) Shepherd, Timothy Ford; great grandchildren – Ella Shepherd, Kaden Shepherd, Addie Shepherd, Karson Shepherd, Sawyer Shepherd, Lizzie Weilenmann, Anja Weilenmann, Nathan Linton, and Haylee Linton. Pallbearers will be sons and grandsons. Honorary Pallbearers will be Staff of Windsor Nursing Home and Widows Mite Sunday School Class. Memorials may be made to Child Development Center, c/o Fairview Baptist Church, 127 Airline Road, Columbus, MS; Annie Armstrong North American Mission Board, P.O. Box 116543, Atlanta, GA 30368; Lottie Moon International Missions, P.O. Box 6767, Richmond, VA 23230; or any other Fairview Baptist Church Mission Fund.
