Hazel Maxine Porter Sullivan

August 26, 1933 – September 16, 2023

Maxine Sullivan, age 90, of Columbus, MS, passed away peacefully, on Saturday, September 16, 2023, at Trinity Personal Care.

The Graveside Service will be at 10 AM on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at Mt Zion Baptist Church Cemetery, 1791 Lake Lowndes Rd, Columbus, MS 39702. Bro. Jerry Mitchell will be officiating.

Maxine was born on August 26, 1933, in Fayette, AL, to the late Walter Verner Porter and Dolly Mae Belk Porter. At an early age, upon the death of her mother, she was also raised by her aunt and uncle, Vena Porter Belk and Realy Washington Belk. She graduated from New Hope High School in 1952. Maxine had lived in Reform and Fayette, AL, before moving to Columbus in 2015 and was an active church member wherever she resided. She was a lively and entertaining storyteller who infused humor and warmth in relaying even the most commonplace events. She enjoyed travel, and her friends and pets were important aspects of her life.
