Herbert Glenn Westbrook, 88 passed away Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at Trinity Healthcare Center, Columbus, MS.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2023, from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. A funeral service will be at 2:00 PM in the Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jerry Mitchell officiating. A graveside service will follow at Egger Cemetery, Caledonia, MS.
Mr. Westbrook was born April 2, 1935, in Greenwood Springs, MS to the late Austin and Myrtle Westbrook. Until he became physically unable, he attended church services regularly, including (through the years) Caledonia Assembly of God, First Assembly of God in Amory, MS, First Assembly of God in Columbus, MS, Becker Baptist Church and Center Hill Baptist Church, Hamilton, MS. He served in various offices within the churches over many years. Most of Mr. Westbrook's career was in Finance and Banking, working at GAC Finance in downtown Columbus in the 60's, then GMAC/Finance America in East Columbus, followed by People's Bank in Tupelo, and Renasant Banks in Tupelo and Aberdeen at the end of his career. It has been a blessing to his family for people from all walks of life to come back years later and share how he compassionately helped them with their finances in their personal life or in their business in some way. He was a long-time member of the Civitan Club, and for some time was a member of the Columbus Auxiliary Police. Mr. Westbrook was preceded in death by his wife – Exie Stanley Westbrook, his youngest son – Steven Scott Westbrook, four sisters, Lorene Crossley, Ruby Walkup, Barbara Williams, Mae Rayner and two brothers, Charles Westbrook and Lloyd Westbrook.
He is survived by his daughter, Donna (Allen) Bennett of Aberdeen, MS; son – Mike (Shelley) Westbrook of Gulfport, MS; seven grandchildren, Britney (Chris) Winters, Michael (Courtnee) Westbrook, Aaron (Gini) Westbrook, Tiffany (Bill) Kulikowki, Brandy (Jeremy) Jones, Cody Westbrook and Caleb Westbrook; and ten great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Chris Winters, Jordan Yoho, Logan Yoho, Aaron Westbrook and Justin Kinney.
We pray that God richly blesses each of the heroes at Trinity Healthcare Center for loving and compassionate care given to him, as well as several very special ladies who cared for him while he was at home – Judy Nichols, Betty Dye, Wanda Kyle, George and Lena Luker and Sandra Colburn.
